@Yakuri, you're welcome! I've been slacking lately, but I'm going to do better. But yes, fake meat is cheaper, depending on what you buy. Vege USA sells TVP for $2.99-$4 a bag of dried TVP, and it lasts a looong time. But if you buy the refrigerated stuff, like "ham" or "chicken" the price goes up. You can make your own seitan, which is what those refrigerated items are, if you can find vital wheat gluten. That would be much cheaper than buying "pork" and "beef" from the freezer. There are a ton of seitan recipes out there but I still can't vital wheat gluten besides online. It's cheap online though....

Thank youso much for this whole blog! I'm a woman suffering the ever present weight issues (200 current pounds), and after reading your blog I've visited those fake meat, tvp websites and everything in between. Although I don't eat meat often, when I do it really hurts my wallet (I'm in a student budget) besides deteriorating my health. can fake meat be a cheaper AND healthier alternative? (that would be utopia-impossible O_o)

The only real negative side effect for me has been the inability to cook vegetarian...well, pescetarian.

It seems like my parents passed along the ability to cook up formerly live critters like there's no tomorrow but not all veggies.

Thankfully, I was never a big fan of eating the poor slaughtered souls, so your cooking has been awesome for me!

Although I feel for you, since you're kinda stuck with the cooking of good food! :)
